Michael J. Ling, CFP®
Mike is an economics graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and a Certified Financial Planner LicenseeTM (CFP). Originally from Maine, Mike founded Berkeley, Inc. in 1996 after working with American Express Financial Advisors and IFG Network Securities, Inc., convinced that he could develop a business that focused on providing unbiased counsel for the complex financial issues that individuals often face. He has seventeen years’ industry experience, which includes comprehensive financial planning, asset management, retirement planning, and investment management. Mike has been actively involved in the community, having served as president of the Cal Berkeley Alumni Association of Idaho, the Treasure Valley Economics Association, United Cerebral Palsy of Idaho and Life’s Kitchen; he currently serves on the Board of Directors of Capital Matrix and the Western Regional Board of National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. Besides his work with community programs, Mike enjoys golfing and exercising at the gym. He and his wife, Cy, live in Eagle, Idaho and enjoy working with their three dogs (Chocolate Lab, Yellow Lab and Flat Coated Retriever) which are human remains detection certified. Cy professionally trains dogs.

Stephen White, CFA
Steve hails from the South; he is an honors finance graduate from the University of Georgia, and is a CFA charter holder. He earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Steve has nineteen years’ industry experience, including investment management, investment banking and finance consulting; he joined Berkeley, Inc. in 2003. He serves on the Board of Directors and several committees for the Better Business Bureau of Southwestern Idaho. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, cross country skiing, coaching soccer—and of course, like any good UGA graduate—keeping up with Georgia Bulldog football. Steve’s wife, Courtney, is a graduate of Vanderbilt and Stanford University, and teaches at Boise State University. Steve and Courtney have two great daughters, Sienna and Quinn, who manage to keep them fully engaged at all times.

Chris Hendrickson, CFP®
A true Idaho native, Chris is a graduate of the Montana State University School of Business. He is a Certified Financial Planner LicenseeTM (CFP). He joined Berkeley, Inc. in 2004 after eight years with TD Waterhouse. Chris has sixteen years’ industry experience, including portfolio analysis, asset allocation, tax planning, retirement planning and account management services. He serves as a board member of the Financial Planning Association, the Harris Ranch Neighborhood Association, the Barber Valley Coalition as well as the Community Planning Association. Chris’ wife Bethany, also a Montana State graduate, is an accountant with the SuperValu grocery chain (formerly Albertson’s). Chris and Bethany have a daughter, Hannah, and son, Parker. Outside the office, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and their various outdoor passions including skiing, mountain biking and camping.

Paul Hakes
Paul grew up in McCall, Idaho and is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he played for the men’s collegiate golf team. He has been employed in both the financial planning and financial services industries for the past 15 years. Prior to joining Berkeley, Inc., Paul worked for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in Denver, Colorado where he served as the Manager of International Development. Subsequent to his work for the CFP Board, he has worked as a residential finance analyst and mortgage planning specialist for one of the premier private mortgage banks in the United States.  Paul has two wonderful children, Ben and Courtney, and a black Labrador retriever named Fletcher. Paul enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, but golf and skiing are his two favorite pastimes.

Heather Culig
The newest addition to Berkeley, Inc. is our Office Manager, Heather.  She is a native of Idaho graduating from Boise State University with a degree in Physical Education.  She joined Berkeley, Inc. in June 2010.  Heather has four children Holly 16, Charlie 14, Emma 13, and Sally 11 and has been actively involved in their lives.  In her spare time, Heather enjoys trail running, mountain biking, scrapbooking and hanging out with her kids.
