Matthew Gjevre

Associate Financial Planner

I am the newest member to join Berkeley as an Associate Financial Planner. I will be assisting in all aspects of our planning services for our clients.

After graduating with a B.A in Marketing and a Finance minor from BSU I took a position with Clearwater Analytics. It was here where I discovered my passion for both investing and assisting others with their investments. Growing up I saw how much of the population had not been given proper guidance on how to navigate the overwhelming amount of information that is needed to successfully handle one's finance. Between my experience growing up and as a young adult I thought it imperative to pursue both education and experience that would allow me to assist those in need of financial guidance. So, I began the long journey of working towards the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). This is a deep and vast program that teaches its candidates an assortment of investment related topics including company evaluation, security analysis, and economic tendencies. Steve has this designation and is one of the many who inspire me to pursue it. I hope to achieve the charter in the coming years, then set my sights on the CFP. The CFP will provide a more holistic education on estate planning, tax planning, retirement planning. I aspire after these designations because I want to be the most equipped to help each and every one of our current and future clients for any questions that they bring to the table, whether it be recommending asset allocations for a certain portfolio, talking through monthly expenses for retirement, or simply understanding what a stock is. I believe that the CFA and CFP designations provide the quality education that is needed to do so.

Life Outside Work

I grew up in Coeur d' Alene Idaho up in the panhandle of the state. I loved playing baseball and basketball while growing up. I have a goal of hitting all 30 MLB stadiums in my lifetime, so far, I am at 4 with a 5th planned this year! One day I will be a little league coach, you can count on that!

After moving down to go to BSU in 2019 I remained in Boise. I love the northern part of the state, but I grew to love Boise even more! Nowadays I fill my time with weightlifting, running, pickleball, and hiking. I am always ready for a weekend adventure in the Treasure Valley. I do hope to travel internationally to both Greece and Japan in the coming years.
